Bio

Laura Nyman has a Master's degree in Education with a major in Special Education. She works as a researcher at REAL and as a PhD candidate at the Centre for Educational Assessment (HEA) at the University of Helsinki. Recently, Laura has been involved in the Horizon Europe MapIE project, the TAR project and National Learning to Learn Assessment 2024 project. Alongside her project work, she is working on her PhD research, which investigates the use of log data in the assessment of transversal competences, with a special focus on students’ motivational beliefs and problem-solving skills. Laura is oriented towards quantitative research and has a particular interest in person-centered approaches. She has gained experience in teaching quantitative research methods and providing methodological support to students working on their theses.
